4-Round Swiss – THREE Sections: Premier (1500+), Reserve (800-1700), Booster (U1000)

Prizes (based on 70 paid entries): Cash awards will be shared equally in case of tied placements. Non-residents of Utah may compete with full eligibility for cash prizes. Title of Utah Game-in-Sixty Champion will be awarded to highest-place Utah resident. 

Premier (1500+): 1st $175, 2nd $125, (1800 – 1999) – $75-50, (1799 and below) – $75-50

Reserve (800-1700): 1st $125, 2nd $100, (1300 – 1499) – $75-50, (1299 and below) – $75-50

Booster (U1000): 1st $100, 2nd $80, 3rd $60, (600 – 799) $75-50, (599 and below) – $75-50 

Unrated players, subject to TD discretion, may play in any section but are strongly encouraged to pick a section that matches their ability.  

The online registration system does not allow unrated players to register for either the G/60 Premier (1500+) section or the Reserve (800-1700) section. If you’re an unrated player and would like to play in one of those sections, please register for the Booster (U1000) section and email utchess@gmail.com and we will move you.

Entry Fee: $25 if registered and paid by Friday, June 21 (at www.utahchess.com), $40 onsite. 

Format and Time Control: Four rounds, Swiss-system pairings (no eliminations). 

  Premier, all rounds: G/60 +5.  (Dual-rated) 
  Reserve, all rounds: G/45 +5.  (Dual-rated)
  Booster, all rounds: G/30, +5.  (Dual-rated)

Players are responsible for supplying equipment (pieces, board and clock) and for knowing how to set clocks. (USCF Rule 16B)

Schedule: (Premier Section) 9:30 a.m., (then lunch), 12:45 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 5:15 p.m.
(Reserve Section) 9:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., (then lunch), 1:45 p.m., 3:30 p.m. 
(Booster Section) First round at 9 am, other rounds to follow ASAP.

Byes: Half-point byes – One (1) half-point bye may be taken but must be requested prior to pairing of Rd 2. All bye requests are irrevocable after that time.  (See USCF Rule 22C, especially Rule 22C4.)  Additional byes (i.e., more than two per player) will be zero-point byes.

Advance Registration: Register online via link at utahchess.com. 

Onsite Registration: Onsite registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.  Players arriving less than 15 minutes before Round 1 for their section is scheduled to begin and who have not registered and paid in advance will be given a half-point bye for round one and paired for round two (when that round is paired for all players in the section) or paired for round one at TD’s discretion.

If a player has a claim to two (or more) prizes, cash prizes shall be awarded in accordance with USCF Rule 32B.
